Józefa Dalecka (1854-?)

Józefa Dalecka was born in 1854 in Gostynin, Gostynin County to Józef Kuliński and Antonina    Jeziórska.  At the age of 17, in 1871, she was married to kawaler (bachelor) Kuliński, age 24. According to Daniel Banasiak that Józefa and Karol were farmers.  This is consistent with what my mom remembers.

Józefa Dalecka and Karol Kuliński had four children

  • Jan (1874-1874): baptized 20 Jan 1874 in Gostynin

Jan: Baptismal record (1874)

  • Anna (1877-?) Godfather was Leonard Medwadowski
  • Adam (1879-1961): baptized 7 Aug 1879

Adam was born on August 7, 1879 in Gostynin, he completed 7 grades of primary school (which is a lot for a man from a non-intelligentsia family at that time). Adam worked all his life in Poland as a post office clerk and had an illustrious career, as described by great grandson, Daniel Banasiak. He married Stanisława Klukaczewska-Klukaszewska  on 9 Jul 1907. Adam and Stanisława had four children:

  • Stanisław Kuliński, born on September 13, 1904 in Włocławek, died on November 2, 1988 in Włocławek, on September 28, 1948 he married his first cousin, Maria Klukaczewska, they had two children:
    • Ewa Maria Kulińska (1950-2008)
    • Jacek Mateusz Kuliński (1951-2013)
  • Irena Kulińska, born on March 3, 1907 in Włocławek, died on January 18, 1985 in Włocławek, on August 5, 1928 she married Kazimierz Jędrzejak, they had three children:
    • Irena Jędrzejak (1929-1952)
    • Andrzej Jędrzejak (1937-2011)
    • Anna Jędrzejak (b.1940)
  • Izabella Kulińska, born on May 22, 1908 in Włocławek, died on September 1, 1996 in Włocławek, Izabella had three husbands and was widowed three times, unfortunately she had no children. Her first husband Oskar Kneisler (1904-1954), married before the war, was of German origin, after the war he was persecuted by the communist security office and tortured to death during interrogation. The second husband was Edward Plajer (1896-1984), married on October 15, 1960 in Włocławek. The third husband was Adam Pawłowski (1907-1994), married on September 16, 1989.
  •  Zdzisław Kuliński, born on September 27, 1909 in Włocławek, at the age of 20 he moved to Warsaw where he worked as a driver, on May 9, 1937 he married Wacława Rutkowska, on January 30, 1940 he was shot by a police patrol in the gate of the tenement house where they lived. He and Wacława had two children:
    • Danuta Bogumiła Kulińska, born on May 4, 1938 in Warsaw, still alive, married and divorced many times, from her marriage with Ryszard Skrajny she has two children:
      • Jolanta Skrajna (1961-2020)
      • Roman Skrajny (b.1966)
    • Bogdan Zdzisław Adam Kuliński, born on November 15, 1939 in Warsaw, died on April 13, 2009 in Warsaw, he had no children with his first wife Jolanta and the marriage lasted about 3 years. With his second wife, Bogusława Wiesława Piotrowska, whom he married on March 27, 1971 in Warsaw, he had two children:
      • Robert Artur Kuliński (b. 1969)
      • Dorota Wacława Kulińska (b. 1971)

Adam was fluent in two languages - Polish and Russian, together with his wife and children, from 1914 to 1917 they lived at the facility in Russia in the city of Mogilov (now Mogilev in Belarus), where Adam was posted. After returning from Russia, they returned to Włocławek. Adam retired in 1949 and died on April 17, 1961.

The connection to Adam has been confirmed with DNA matches to Dorota and Daniel Banisiak. Thank you to Daniel Banasiak for providing the photos and narrative.

  • Marianna (1882-1972):

Marianna, immigrated in 1914, leaving behind two children: Adam and Wanda, and joining her husband, Józef Palczewski, in Brooklyn. Józef had immigrated to the US, arriving in Ellis Island on 5 Dec 1912. Whether Marianna and Józef planned to send for them later, we shall never know.

Wanda Palczewska (b. 1902) and Adam Palczewski (b. 1904) with Józefa Dalecka and Karol Kuliński (Abt. 1912)

While in the US, Marianna and Józef had two children: William Joseph (1915-1991) and Edward (1924-1987).  I've since connected with Linda Ann Palczewski, son of William and Charlotte Marchard.  In speaking with Linda, she said she that sometime before the fall of the Berlin Wall, she tried to connect with Wanda and Adam but they were unable to meet due to restrictions on travel within what was then Communist-controlled Poland. Edward married Antoinette Vezevich in 1954. They had two children Barry and Barbara. The connection has been confirmed with DNA matches to AP and PP, children of Barry and Laura Dejesu and KS, granddaughter of Edward and Antoinette.

Sometime after Marianna's birth in 1882, Karol was no longer living at home with Józefa and the children. Whether he was working elsewhere or conscripted into the Russian army, we do not know.

In the subsequent years, Józefa gave birth to six additional children.

  • Brygida (1885-1950)
  • Franciszka (1888-?)
  • Józef (1891-1892)
  • Helena (1893-?)
  • Józef (1897-1899)
  • Ignacy (?-1895)

Other than my great grandmother, Brygida, nothing is known about the other children. I have yet to be able to find any record of them on Geneteka or elsewhere.

Welcome!

Well, having spent a significant amount of time exploring my family history, I decided to start a blog.  I have no real idea of what I plan ...
